This 300sqm penthouse has a roof deck overlook neighboring low rise residential block with Mountain View beyond. Contemporary design with use of dark wood panel and beige colour created a comfortable yet modern home for our client. Living, Dining and Kitchen area in this apartment had been turned around to house a Home Theatre and a bright Dining Room with simulate open kitchen yet containing the smoke. A resort like ambient surround by bamboo which obscures the building view while allowing the Mountain View being seen, along with a shallow reflecting pool made the Roof Deck a true getaway from the busy city.
Use of Space (Maximum 800 words):
Living, Dining and Kitchen area in this apartment had been turned around to suit the homeowner lifestyle. Newly positioned kitchen is encaged with glazing to simulate open kitchen yet containing the smoke. Adjacent to it is the Dining area, both command the main view with ample of natural light where as sitting area requires less natural lighting and it is turned into a Home Theatre. Maid room and toilet tucked under the newly built staircase which accesses to the roof deck. Beyond the Sitting area is a sliding door that separated the private rooms from the rest. Wood panels wrapped the entire corridor apart from the viewing window. All room & cupboard doors are disguised behind the wooden panel.
The entire roof deck is spaced in 3 zone namely, Lounging, Dining and Playing area. Zoning is achieved by inserting light boxes into the deck floor while a shallow reflecting pool is built under the Lounge area that become the main attraction.
Use of Colors, Materials/ List of Major Materials:
The apartment used dark wood panels, beige and grey as the theme colour. The entire roof deck floor is raised by 300mm with outdoor wood decking which insulate from direct sunlight and drains that rain water underneath it. Bamboo at 1500mm high screens at the perimeter of the roof deck which obscure the building view while allowing the Mountain View being seen.
Lighting Scheme:
The mood of the entire roof deck changes from dusk till dawn with use of different light installations. Lighting for the apartment remains calm and comfortable.
